OK - can we talk about how to actually get healthy for a minute?

With social media, it is so easy to get sucked into thinking you have to only be eating kale & quinoa, practicing yoga every morning in your perfect sun-lit yoga room, and drinking matcha tea and having lavender baths every evening. Now don't get me wrong, that sounds amazing, but for most of us, that isn't DAY-TO-DAY life. 

It's also not realistic to think that someone living on Diet Coke, Starbucks, and gummy worms is going to instantly switch over to mint-infused water and a salad. It just doesn't happen like that. It takes TIME, and THAT'S OK.

First of all, it literally takes time for your taste buds to adjust. It truly is amazing how our bodies work, but also scary at the same time. See, the diet industry figured this out a long time ago. That's why artificial and manufactured sugars are sooooo addictive. I used to be hooked on Diet Coke - I couldn't tell you why, but I NEEDED it. The artificial sugars in these toxic drinks keep you wanting, and needing more. BUT, the cool thing is that you can make the same thing happen with healthy food. I promise you: its not going to be easy at first, but the more healthy food you start to eat, the more you will actually LIKE it, and dare I say even start CRAVING it!

You can train your taste buds. It does take time, but it can happen. Have you ever been around one of those really annoying people that says: "I could really go for a salad right now"

I used to roll my eyes at those people - who actually WANTS a salad. But seriously, I am there now. If I have an overindulgent weekend I CANNOT wait to get some greens in on Monday. It truly is about balance.

So don't beat yourself up if you're in the Diet Coke and gummy worms category. Start slowly. I'm not telling you to go cold turkey on any of your bad habits, because that is seriously the easiest way to failure. Instead, start small. Maybe swap that Diet Coke for a flavored seltzer water. Or, maybe you are drinking 3 diet cokes a day and you decide to try only drinking two.

START SLOW. 

My journey from Diet Cokes to only water was probably 5 years in the making. Now I taste Diet Coke and can't imagine how I used to drink it. It truly is amazing how your taste buds can change, you just have to use a little brain power to help them out!
